Hanging baby Cribs
The hanging cribs are designed with maximum safety in mind.
When I designed my original hanging baby crib it was as a knee-jerk reaction to people continually putting small babies in my demonstration chairs at the shows that I was displaying on.
People would plop their kids into the bum section of the hammock chairs and then swing them.
Generally if they (the babies) relaxed they were fine, but occasionally they would squirm in panic from being swung to suddenly and a little too fast.
Well I gotta tell you that many times i nearly dived under the chair to catch someones kid. Truthfully not one child ever fell, but I really needed a strong drink after some of the incidents.
So it didn’t take me long to realize that if I designed a hanging baby crib then people would put the little children into that and not the big hammocks or hammock chairs.
Having watched my 4 children survive and grow into adulthood didn’t make it any easier – I had in fact become more neurotic than I was when I was younger.
So I designed a hanging crib that was a little to safe, and the first people to use it complained and I fixed the details for the next lot that I made.
I need to tell you that they are the most amazing thing.
THEY WIIL PROBABLY SORT OUT COLIC IN A BABY
You put a crying baby into one of them and swing it gently and it doesn’t take very long for the child to return to a happy state. Unless you haven’t fix other obvious problems, like hungry, thirsty, hot, cold or all putrid in the leaking end.
The size of the cribs allow you to use it up until the child is about 16 to 18 months, but there is some adjusting that would need to be done.
You see in the beginning you need to use those triangular support cushions that will keep your child lying straight in the middle. Now as the design of the crib is done to maximize the swinging motion it all works off of a single rope.
Now when the baby gets to be about 6 or 7 months old and then starts to roll you will need to redo the rope system to secure all 4 corners from their own point above the crib.
Now from that point on the swinging motion is more restricted, but that is a good thing as babies learn very quickly to swing the crib just for fun.
PRICING.
Currently we are still taking orders and will continue to do so for about 6 more months. We will re look at production again at that point.
You are able to choose from a variety of different fabric choices, and this is affected by things like summer or winter being the dominant season.
Other factors would be if you plan to use the crib on a daily basis and secure it next to your bed for continual use. (this is what I suggest)
However you might choose to only use the crib in a specific room or on the patio or whatever. Some people only use the crib when camping.
Prices are not likely to be affected by the fabric choice. But if you do need to match a very pricey imported fancy handmade lace from Italy or something then that might fiddle the price.
Standard hanging crib is R 950.00 each excluding delivery.
We do not manufacture the stands anymore, but are willing to send you in the right direction to get one made if you need mobility.
I have always felt that all you need to do is hang up the two or three main hooks from day one and then those tend to be enough.
